April 14th, Officials, and Private Lessons
Registration continues to be open on our website. For those yet to register, remember to get your kiddos signed up!
On Saturday, April 14th we will be holding swimsuit sales from 10 am to noon at the Kings Point pool. Swim Shops of the Southwest will have our team suits at the pool and swimmers can try on different sizes if you are unsure of their size. We will be using the same suit as last year, so no need to purchase a new suit if last year’s suit still fits. If you are not able to make the meeting, you can go to Swim Shops of the SW at their shop in Atascocita (8041 FM 1960 Rd E, Humble, TX 77346) at any time to try on and/or purchase a new suit. In addition to suits, they will also have fins, goggles, caps, and other accessories for sale. Please remember that all swimmers in each age group are required to have fins and goggles at all practices.
For any new families to the Waves, we will also have a new parent meeting at 11:00 am to go into a bit more detail on how the meets work, volunteering, invitationals, etc. Please arrive early to purchase the team suit and any other gear you may need and stick around for the 11 am meeting. I will be available after to answer any other questions you may have. If you're unable to make it on Saturday, the 14th please feel free to reach out via email with any questions about the season that may be on your mind.
With regards to volunteering, we are in need of parents willing to serve as an NWAL official. It’s a simple process to become registered and you do not need to be an experienced swimmer to become certified. Your service as an official relieves you of your family’s volunteer requirements. You get to watch your children swim while watching from the best seat in the house and you are given breaks throughout the meet. Please contact me for more details on officiating, as we need our officials to help the meets operate efficiently.
Finally, a few parents have asked about private lessons before or during the season. Our high school coaches, Kayla Armitage and Aimee Carruth are available for individual lessons. Please note that the Kings Point pool will not be available until April 16th. Even then, the Kings Point pool will have very limited availability. Kayla can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org or 281-755-6785 and Aimee can be reached at email@example.com or 713-505-8183.
Hope to see you all April 14th!
